Photography Tours

We will take you to see Bhutan from initial to final with the lens of your cameras. Bhutan’s fine-looking scenery, Himalayan range roofed with snow, inimitable architecture, conventional buildings and its citizens are some of the most picturesque in the globe.   

This tour offers attention-grabbing set of camera-friendly opportunities like- ancient temples, monasteries, flora and fauna in its natural ecology, colorful festivals and happy people. This tour is designed to take place together with festivals in spring and autumn showcasing thrilling display of mask dances, rituals with vivid costumes and local peoples in their paramount attires. This tour is suitable for all travelers who like to take photographs too no matter what level they are as photographers are.

DAY 01: Arrive in Paro

On lending to Paro international airport, our representative from Bhutan Musk Travels will welcome you and then escort you to hotels for chek-in, after refreshment we will go for site seeing in paro that includes visit to a places like Ta Dzong which house as National Museum housing many religious relics, art and handicrafts. After that we will then visit the Rimpong Dzong to see the unique architecture and painting of the great saint Milarepa, we will take some stunning photograph of it, later we will pass by the unique wooden traditional bridge. Towards evening, we will visit some farm house to know the typical Bhutanese life style and take some photo of them. Paro.

DAY 02: Paro- site seeing

After breakfast, we will hike to Taktsang Monastery that takes approximately 1.5 to 2 hours uphill. On reaching the view of Taktsang Monastery, we will take photograph of spectacular sight of the Monastery and then we will visit the temple inside.In the afternoon we will then visit the ruins of the 17th Century Drukgyel Dzong, built to celebrate a victory against invading Tibetans in 1644. On a clear day one can see a beautiful Mount Jomolhari (7314m) covered with snow. On the return we will stop by to visit 7th Century Kyichu Lhakhang, one of the 108 temples constructed by the Tibetan king Songtsen Gampo. Evening at leisure at Paro town. Day 03: Thimphu- site seeing

Right after breakfast, we will then drive to Thimphu, the capital city of Bhutan which takes about 1 hour drive from Paro. When we reach Thimphu, we will chek-in the hotels and after refreshment, we will then visit the place like After National Memorial Chorten which was built in 1974 in memory of the third king of Bhutan, His Majesty Jigme Dorji Wangchuck. After that we will continue on to the National Library housing a collection of Bhutanese scriptures dating back to the 8th century, and the school of arts and craft followed by visit to the institute of traditional medicine and later to flock heritage museum. In the evening we will visit to see the eye-catching view of Tashichhodzong, the fortress of the glorious religion. Overnight at your hotel in Thimphu.

Day 04: Thimphu – site seeing

On the 4th day we will walk to beautiful Tango Monastery. Tango is the only Buddhist University in Bhutan, take photo of the monastery and the monk, later in the afternoon, we will then visit to the mini zoo to see the national animal of Bhutan i.e Takin followed by visit to 12th century Changangkha Lhakhang, one of the oldest temples in the valley. In the evening we will visit the handicraft emporium and the craft bazaar. Overnight at your hotel in Thimphu.

DAY 05: Thimphu – Punakha

Drive to Punakha via Dochula Pass, here you can spend some time walking around and photographing the 108 Druk Wangyel Chortens and excellent view of the Himalayan range. The journey continues down to Punakha. In Punkha we will visit places like Punakha Dzong which is set on the junction of the two rivers the Phochu (Male River) and Mochu (Female River). Overnight at your hotel in Punakha.

DAY 06: Punakha –site seeing

After breakfast hike up to Khamsum Yuelley Chorten. It’s a beautiful walk for about 1 hr or 2 depending on individual stamina, later we will visit the Talo Temple and village and after that we will then drive to Wangduephodrang. Overnight at your hotel in Wangduephodrang.

DAY 7: Wangduephodrang – Phobjikha

After breakfase, we will visit the Wangdue Dzong, take some photo, the beautiful landscape of valley and then will continue our journey towards Gangtey – the phobjikha valley.Overnight at guest house/ cam at Phobjikha.

DAY 08: Site seeing in Phobjikha Valley

Phobjikha is one of Bhutan’s few glacial valleys, and chosen winter home of black necked cranes (November – March) migrating from the Tibetan plateau. After lunch visit the Phobjikha Sanctuary to view the majestic black necked cranes and and then later visit to Gangtey Gompa  temple which dates back to the 16th century. Overnight at your hotel in Phobjikha.

DAY 09: Phobjikha Valley – Trongsa

Right after breakfast we will drive towards Trongsa, on the way we will stop by Pele La pass (3,420m) and later at Chendibji Chorten. After that we will be crossing the village of Tangsibjiand Thangkha, before we reach Trongsa we will stop by to see the imposing view of Trongsa Dzong and take some photo as well.After lunch we will visit Trongsa Dzong, a masterpiece of Bhutanese architecture. In the old days, it was the vigilance point for both the eastern and western trade routes, thus a purposefully important Dzong. Then we will drive to Bumtang which takes about 2-3 hours. Overnight at hotels in Bumtang.

DAY 10:  Bumtang- Siteseeing

Following breakfast we will visit Jakar Dzong, also known as ‘Fortress of the White Bird’ then we will visit to Jampey Lhakhang, one of 108 temples built by the Tibetan King Songtsen in the 7th Century, from here we will continue on to Kurjey Lhakhang, famous for a rock within one of the temples that features a body imprint of the great master Guru Rimpoche. In the afternoon we will then visit Tamshing Lhakhang, the seat of Bumthang’s famous son, Saint Pema Lingpa then we will visit to Burning Lake called Mebartso, which lies about 5 minute drive from the road point and later on return we, will visit to local handicrafts in town and evening at leisure. Overnight at your hotel in Bumthang.

DAY 11: Bumtang – Thimphu

We will take the same route to return back to Thimphu, and on the way we will visit to Chhimi lhakhang and then few farm houses to see the conventional way of farming. Later in the afternoon drive to Thimphu. Overnight at hotels in Thimphu

DAY 12: Thimphu– Paro  

We will visit Buddha point to see the world largest statue of Buddha and then visit to Simtokha Dzong( the oldest fortress in Bhutan built in the 17th century by Shabdrung Ngawang Namgyal, the unifier of Bhutan) before we leave to Paro. Afternoon we will drive back to Paro town and on the way, we will stop by to take a short hike to the 14th century suspension bridge build out of iron chains. Evening at leisure in Paro.

DAY 13: DEPART PARO

After Breakfast we will drive to the airport for flight to your onward destination. Our guide and driver will see off for you.
